I laid in my room in the early days of summer, fresh off of college graduation and wondering what would come next. I wasn’t set on being conventional, I wanted to do something different with my life, something wild yet progressive toward the impending grown man job phase ahead of me.

I always loved video production, but realized early in my college career that a degree in Public Relations would be more beneficial in the long run. After receiving my degree from Sacramento State University, I still felt the need to explore the world of film making. I didn’t want to abandon the degree I worked so hard for, but longed for a way to incorporate my college education with my passion of making films.

Shortly after applying to Career Israel, I was presented with 4-5 potential internships in accordance with my goals and interests. I weighed my options and was set on Chaos Films; a film company in Tel Aviv specializing in feature films, documentaries, television series, and commercials. After speaking on the phone with the people at Chaos, I knew that it would be the perfect place to channel my creativity. I started my internship in October of 2013 and was welcomed as a full member of the team. Unlike many internships in the states, I was immediately involved in everything the company was doing prior to my arrival, along with current and potential future projects.

There is never a dull moment at Chaos, and everyday I am presented with a new task. Whether I am behind the camera, editing a film, or researching potential film funds for our latest project, it is safe to say that I am finding my perfect balance of business and pleasure in Israel. With four fellow interns alongside me, we are all able to grow together and collaborate to find success within the company and the industry.

But more importantly I know that I will have gained the skills and the confidence to be successful in the long run. Oh and by the way…Tel Aviv Is an amazing city, I promise you will love it.
